◆ Chamotte

Chamotte (Al2O3-SiO2 fireclay that was burned and crushed) is generally used as filter media since it has a unique porous property and a large surface area. There are two kinds of chamotte that have different densities : one is made of natural pumice and the other is made of fire brick.

■ Characteristic

1)	Since chamotte is less dense and lighter than sand, it is used for single filtration, including filtration for pools, bathhouses, ponds and fish cultures, and other filtration for clarification, as well as for dual filtration in combination with anthracite.
2)	Since chamotte has fire resistance, adiabaticity, heat retaining property and water retention capacity, it is also used as packing media for walls or fertilizer for gardening.
3)	There are two kinds of chamotte that have different densities.
