SIPHON Harmony

Compared to the two-tier treatment traditionally needed to remove turbidity, iron, manganese, and color, SIPHON Harmony can operate as one-tier equipment for groundwater treatment.
By installing exterior fitted SIPHON cleaning equipment and carrying out periodical cleaning, the filter material can be permanently kept clean and it becomes possible to turn the complicated process to remove turbidity, iron, manganese, etc. into a one-tier treatment.

  1. Performs clarification, deferrization, demanganization, and color removal in a single filtration device
    Treatment of well water containing suspended substances and color, which conventionally required two filter columns, can be achieved with a single filter column.
    By using two filter media, clarification, deferrization, demanganization, and color removal can be achieved.
  2. Keeps the filter media for clarification clean
    The filter media for clarification (Anthracite) are washed by kneading action in an external device for washing filter media upon backwash, so they are always kept clean.
  3. Extends the life of the filter media for color removal
    Since the filter media for clarification in the upper layer are always kept clean, suspended substances do not leak into the filter media for color removal in the lower layer. The surfaces of the filter media for color removal will not be covered by the suspended substances, so they can be used for a longer period to reduce the frequency of filter media replacement.
  4. Saves installation space and initial cost for equipment
    Since well-water treatment can be performed in a single filter column instead of the conventional two, only the installation spaces for filtration device, front piping, control panel, and accessory pumps of one filter column are needed, so the equipment as a whole can be made compact.
  5. Significantly reduces the running cost
    An external device for washing filter media is installed to shorten the backwashing time compared to conventional filtration devices. The frequency of filter media replacement is also reduced, realizing the reduction of maintenance and management costs.

  • Filter layer configuration and washing method
    In conventional filtration devices, filter media were washed only by backwashing.
    Backwashing could not completely remove the contaminants from the filter media, resulting in leakage of contaminants into devices in subsequent stages. SIPHON Harmony has an external filter media washing device “SWS” installed, so washing by kneading action is concurrently performed during backwashing, which enables complete cleaning of the clarification filter media to prevent leakage of suspended substances into the color removal filter media in the lower layer. Meanwhile, the color removal filter media, which are coated filter media, cannot be washed vigorously by the kneading action, so they are washed gently by normal backwashing. Since the two washing methods can be carried out in a single filtration device, well-water treatment can be conducted in a single filter column.
  • Filter media used
    Since our establishment in 1939, as a manufacturer specialized in filter media, we have accumulated knowledge in filtration and techniques for well-water treatment. We use various special filter media developed based on these knowledge and techniques. In particular, New Color Cutter Light has been developed for treating well water in Japan containing manganese and humic color components. As a manganese dioxide filter media having a high oxidizing power, it removes manganese through contact oxidation while acting as an oxidation catalyst on humic acid to achieve color removal.
